Africa and Middle East Summit

The inaugural COTTM – Africa and Middle East Summit took place on 14 October 2019 at Dongyuan Cultural Space Beijing providing attendees with networking opportunities and insight to assist the outbound travel industry in meeting the growing demand for Middle East and Africa tourism destinations. 

WHY THE MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA?
  • With large numbers of Chinese tourists already seeing Africa and the Middle East as desirable destinations, both are key elements of the, ‘Belt and Road Strategy’.
  • The 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing, saw a number of strategical partnerships signed promoting growth in travel infrastructure, trade and relations.
  • In 2018 alone, 1.73 million Chinese citizens made trips to the Middle East with an increase of 17.7% compared with the last year's.
  • Over the past 3 editions of COTTM, destinations from Africa and the Middle East have accounted for more than 40% of the total exhibitors, highlighting the demand and reliability of the COTTM brand to connect destinations with China’s leading tour operators.

For international travel organisaitons looking to learn more about doing business in Africa and the Middle East, the Summit proved the perfect platform to gain a deeper understanding of the unique needs of both markets. 

THE SUMMIT
