My name is Alan Cameron and I live in Dumfries, Scotland. I am a registered teacher and former District Education Administrator in two local authorities. I taught music in both primary and secondary schools. I led the Schools Music Service in Glasgow City Council and in Dumfries & Galloway Council, Scotland. In 2005 I led an innovative distance learning pilot programme (funded by the Scottish Government) over ISDN6 Video Conference systems, prior to the availability of broadband which became available to us in 2009. I appointed the UK's first local authority virtual tutor to teach young people brass instruments over video conferencing in remote rural locations. This program was highly commended by an evaluation team at Warwick University, England and I shared our work at international conferences across the globe including in Kuala Lumpur (2006), Beijing (2010), Melbourne (2013) and Finland (2015). I met one of the co-founders of Soundtrap at the conference in Finland and was then invited to take part in the launch of Soundtrap for Education at the BETT London Exhibition in January 2016. I have worked for almost 7 years as Education Adviser with Soundtrap. I have supported teachers, schools and education organisations in online audio creation with young people. I contribute to professional development programmes through webinars and in-person delivery at education conferences. Most recently, I led workshops for teachers in Cape Town, South Africa.
