100 new schools prepared to take part in Smart learning programme

The preparations of 100 new schools taking part in the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Smart Learning initiative for the academic year 2013/14 are completed, the minister of education announced during the briefing of the academic year 2013/14.

Humaid Mohammad Al Qutami, Minister of Education, stressed that the development of the smart learning initiative will be among key goals of the academic year 2013/14. The preparations include providing schools with the latest electronic technology, high speed networks and classroom smart boards which allows the teacher to explain the lesson through the presentation of electronic content.

The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Smart Learning Programme which is part of the UAE Vision 2021, was launched in 2012 by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The initiative aims to shape a new learning environment in public schools through the launch of ‘smart classes’ that will provide every student with an electronic tablet and access to high-speed 4G networks by 2017.

The initiative which was launched last year was first implemented in 14 schools where all grade seven teachers where provided with laptops and the students were provided with tablets.
