UAE education ministry eyes school building improvements

The UAE's education ministry has set nine objectives to improve the specifications of schools buildings in the country. Some of these objectives include the development of architectural façades and external fences, student restaurants, reception halls and a main entrance, and a community innovation centre, which would include robot labs, learning resources, and gymnasiums.

Additional items within the ministry's objectives include admin rooms and classrooms, intelligent use of spaces, the closure and adaptation of corridors, and landscaping and green areas.

The addition of fire extinguishing systems and fire alarms was also recommended, WAM reported.

Details about these standards were revealed during a meeting held between engineers working on education projects in the UAE, and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Sheikh Mohamed was briefed about the Ministry of Education's ongoing and developed projects, the latter of which includes 24 schools and 16 kindergartens.

Of the completed facilities, seven are in Ajman, 11 are in Sharjah, eight are in Fujairah, four are in Dubai, one is in Umm Al Qaiwain, and nine are in Ras Al Khaimah.
