UAE Ministry of Higher Education outlines strategic plan for 2014
More research, development and innovation are a priority for the coming year. Boosting these areas is a major part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s new strategic plan.
It has been issued under the guidance of the minister, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak, for the period 2014 to 2016.
The plan includes raising the effectiveness of higher education and fostering opportunities for citizens to attend the best universities abroad to help meet the needs of the labour market.
The strategy is designed to help achieve the ministry’s vision of developing a knowledge-based society and to improve higher education and scientific research.
This will be organised through more effective management of scholarships and will require tighter organisation of higher education institutions to ensure quality.
The ministry has identified a series of values it will prioritise, including equality, respect, fairness, transparency and credibility.
These will come through the provision of information about procedures for the delivery of services, and everyone will be allowed to look at the general policies of the ministry.
The ministry will also be applying internal and external regulations, teamwork and collaboration to develop and improve its own work systems.
