UAE schools gear up for second semester

DUBAI: As many as 642 schools of the Ministry of Education all over the UAE on Tuesday received around 22,282 male and female teachers - 11,163 in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and 11,119 in Abu Dhabi, for the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018 following their winter vacation.

The second semester for students is scheduled to begin on Jan.14 and continue till March 23, 2018.

The second semester vacation (spring vacation) will begin for students on March 25 and continue for two weeks before study is resumed on April 8. Teachers will resume their work on April 1, one week before students rejoin the school.

The end of the academic year for all students has been set by the ministry for July 5, 2018, instead of June 28, as scheduled in the previous calendar, while the end of work of the teaching, administrative and technical staff has been set for July 12, instead of July 5. This academic year consists of 181 school days.
