Dubai’s Rahhal to customise needs of specific learners

Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), launched on Sunday a new platform called ‘Rahhal’ that allows students to enjoy greater learning opportunities, anywhere and anytime.

Rahhal provides an alternative approach to education through a framework that can be customised to the needs of each specific learner.

Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the board of directors and director-general of KHDA said, “We are taking a big leap away from the traditional model of education and experiencing the future of learning. Rahhal is all about giving students a chance to experience their full potential and benefit from learning both within and outside the school. This marks a milestone for all of working in the education sector.”

Through Rahhal, students who wish to study at a mainstream school and part-time elsewhere in the community will be able to do so, he added.

The pilot phase is being launched by KHDA as part of 10x, a Dubai Future Foundation initiative which aims to take Dubai ten years into the future within two years.

Students at Indian High School (IHS) in Dubai will be among the first to experience the platform and benefit from out-of-school learning opportunities.

Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation said, “Dubai 10X is one of the projects launched by Dubai Future Foundation that aspires to position Dubai 10 years ahead by disrupting key sectors like education, aviation and many others. Rahhal could possibly create a new model for education where learning can continue away from school too and the success of this pilot phase relies on the involvement of students and parents.”
