UAE aims to give every pupil digital empowerment
Smart Learning Programme will enable every student in the UAE to be at par with global trends.
Education has been redefining the meaning of ‘smart’ for a while now as the landscape of learning turns increasingly digital. Today’s smart students, even kindergartners, are savvy minds who can tap and drag lessons and information right into their minds. Providing impetus to this pedagogical progress, and taking its position in the forefront, is the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Smart Learning Programme — part of UAE Vision 2021, which will enter its second pilot phase next week as it takes into its fold six more schools to the existing eight from the first pilot phase.
A sum of Dh53 million has been allocated towards digitally integrating 30 classes, 800 students and 80 teachers. The ultimate goal of the Smart Learning Programme is to digitally empower all public schools in the UAE by providing every student with an electronic tablet and access to high-speed 4G networks by 2017. This project will not only provide a headstart for students to be in step with global trends in education, it will also enable teachers and policy makers, via this single e-platform, to take the UAE towards newer horizons of learning and development.
