Sheikh Mohammad approves Dh2 billion for UAE projects
Projects worth Dh2 billion were approved by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during a visit to the Ministry of Public Works on Sunday.
The projects are part of the two-year plan (2014-2016), which comprises a number of infrastructure works that include building federal service-related buildings and developing federal roads. This is to achieve connectivity between all UAE’s cities and regions and ensure the safety of those roads’ users.
Shaikh Mohammad was also briefed on the ministry’s on-going projects, which are worth Dh4 billion and are being carried out in various regions of the emirates. Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, was also present. The implementation of Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital was also launched by Shaikh Mohammad during the visit.
The first phase of building the hospital, which is located in Al Ruwayyah in Dubai, is expected to cost nearly Dh600 million.
After the electronic launch, Shaikh Mohammad unveiled the plaque of the hospital, which will cover 54,000 square metres and will have 272 beds, and is expected to cost between Dh450-Dh500 million and to be finished in 24 months, starting June 30.
Shaikh Mohammad tweeted that he liked the hospital’s Islamic architecture and its feature of houses used for the rehabilitation of patients and their reintegration into society.
A presentation of the most important projects carried out and implemented by the Ministry of Public Works was given to Shaikh Mohammad. The projects include buildings, centres, police and security buildings for the Ministry of Interior, schools and buildings for the Ministry of Education, road networks and other service-related buildings across the UAE.
Addressing the ministry’s staff, Shaikh Mohammad praised their efforts and achievements as well as the important role they play in the process of construction and development and service providing that serve the citizens of the UAE.
He also invited them to work harder to keep up with the aspirations of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide the best services to citizens and residents in the UAE.
Shaikh Mohammad said: “We have many great ambitions, especially with the passing of 41 years since the founding of our country. You are continuing the march to take our country to the highest rank among the most progressive countries in the field of public services.”
He added: “You’ll need to face and overcome many challenges. I’ll also be partaking in the march alongside you because I have learned many things out in the field, not just through office work. I love being out in the field because it allows me to personally supervise and follow up on all activities being carried out.”
During the visit, Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr Abdullah Bin Mohammad Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, along with a number of senior officials in the Ministry of Public Works.
