Dubai teenager spreading her eco-friendly message around the globe

Teenage eco-campaigner Kehkashan Basu of Dubai has spent her school vacation spreading her green message around the world.

The 13-year-old, who is Global Coordinator for Children and Youth UNEP Major Groups Facilitating Committee, Youth Advisor World Future Council and Global President of the Children's Board , Plant-for-the-Planet spoke in New York and Germany and is bound for South Korea in September.

She also picked up some new accolades ­ including an Action for Nature Young Eco-Heroes Award, a global recognition for under 16s. Kehkashan gave the closing address at the UN Youth Assembly in New York where she also attended a "Global Interactive Dialogue" session with Ban Ki Moon.

She told 7DAYS: 'It was really an honour to be able to speak at the closing ceremony and I felt very humbled by the fact that I was the youngest speaker at this UN event.'

In September she will travel to Suwon, South Korea to attend the Eco Mobility. Kehkahsan said: 'This is a really prestigious conference and I have been invited as a youth moderator. I am told that I will be their youngest international participant.'
