Prof. Manoj Arora

Prof. Manoj Arora is a Ph. D. in Remote Sensing from Swansea University, UK. He was a post-doctoral research fellow for about two years in a NASA sponsored project in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department, Syracuse University, USA.

During, 2013-2018, he led Punjab Engineering College (Deemed University), Chandigarh, as the Director, on a Five-year tenure and was on lien from IIT Roorkee where he served as a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering upto Nov. 1, 2018 for 30 years. He was the Vice Chancellor of BML Munjal University, Gurgaon during Nov 2018 to Sept 2022 before joining SRM University AP about a month ago.

He works in the area of Geospatial Technologies, Digital Image Classification, Machine Learning, Land Cover Mapping and Hazard and Risk Studies.

He has more than 34 years of teaching and research experience and a nearly equal experience in academic administration across India, UK and USA.

He has collaborated with a number of organizations both India and abroad. Prof. Arora has earned Outstanding Teacher Award at IIT Roorkee, the Commonwealth Scholarship Award for Ph.D. in UK, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Young Scientist Award, the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) Young Teacher Career Award and post-doctoral research award in a NASA sponsored project, USA.

He is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Member IEEE Society and has been an active member of American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society and the Indian Society of Remote Sensing.
