Colleen Menichini

University and Career Counselor

Uptown School

I am working as a Higher Education and Career Advisor in a private school in Dubai, and advise students finishing the IB curriculum into transition to university. I have worked with the students and families to identify their next steps for education, and provide the tools and information needed for successful movement from high school to higher education. I have been working and living in the UAE for over nine years and have a strong connection to the people and the culture of this country. I am currently working in a position that allows me to interact with parents and students, often problem solving to help them find a desirable pathway to university. My work in the United Arab Emirates has given me unique perspective in education, both delivering content to English Second Language Learners, but also in the context of a diverse culture. I have worked alongside colleagues from many different countries and backgrounds, and have successfully helped students secure university placements within the Ivy League, Oxbridge, and more importantly, whatever university or program that the student has determined. For me, finding a next step for students is incredibly important and there isn’t one university that is more important than any other.

PANELIST SESSIONS

16 November, 2022 | 15:50 to 16:40
So … what IS the future of work?

This forward-thinking panel session, chaired by Dr Helen Wright, will challenge the participants to think about what the world of work could and should look like, and how schools need to prepare their students to respond – and shape – this vision. Areas covered will include:

·      What do children and young people really want out of work and life?

·       What are we doing in schools to lead the way?

·       How can we plan in schools for the future of the world of work?
